We have turned 1 last month, and what better way to gift ourselves than getting a brand new look.
We thank all our users who kept on telling us that we can do so much better with a new UI. We dedicate this new UI to them.
Frankly, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that we need to get better on look and feel. Guess, we were just too engrossed in getting our search piece right and the UI took a backseat. But now we are trying to change for better.
We have set up a quick poll that you can see on the right side of the search result page. Just select Yes/No and tell us if you liked our new look.
We are waiting.
You take care.
Team Guruji

Well done. Thats a brilliant move, for indian websearching experience. The endeavour is like Bhatia's hotmail.
Now we need to let people know about it. Being a psychiatrist by trade, I do not know the technical lingo. But how about creating a code to put a search engine box on websites,a la google and ask.com

I am a freelance copywriter. I have made a punchline that speaks of your product
'search' and of your USP 'India specific'. It can serve as your permanent punchline. If you like it (which you will) what maximum can I get for it.

Although the search content, speed should match google, but stay away from the design. I know its very simple and easy to navigate and people are now use to of it. But guys.. someone can easily take you for copying google and also who know may be you guys might be getting results through google using web scrapping or some tech.. So to create brand of yours .. you guys will have to come out of this..

Guruji Team:
Congratulations on excellent idea and establishing a niche to serve the indian market in local languages.
I am based in US and I have been using http://www.guruji.com/te (Telugu version) to get the Telugu text through transliteration. Thanks for simple interface and the tool tips you provide on Telugu key pad. These are very helpful.
I am a volunteer teaching Telugu at "School of India For Languages and Culture (http://www.silcmn.com)" to the US children; And your site is very handy to me and my students in teaching Indian languages.
I noticed that you have recently switched to Quillpad as the back-end to your site. I just want to bring to your attention that it has brought in some negative consequences and it can get annoying sometimes. When I type "j" and "ja" and "jaa" earlier, I used to get the telugu text as I wanted. Now, "jaa" doesn't give the telugu text as anticipated. Instead, I need to select the right word from the pulldown. For advanced users, it can be downside because of the extra click to select from menu. When you are typing longer transliterated test in your text box, it can spoil the rhythm forcing the user to pause to select from the pulldown.
It would be nice to have the earlier capability restored as before - in addition to enabling the menu choices powered by Quillpad.
I couldn't find any other way of giving you the feedback and hence submittng the comment here.
Keep up the good work.
thanks
- jasthi
