“The woods are lovely, dark and deep….
Well, it feels nice to stop at the woods for a while, and reminisce about the year gone by. Did you ask why recall a whole 1 year? That’s because exactly this day last year we launched Guruji.com – India’s very own search engine. Yes, today we complete one whole orbit around the sun.
What a year it has been!
We launched ourselves with a mixed set of responses, the skeptics said - “Why do you need another search engine?”, “Do you guys really think you can do it?”….”It’s tough” and so on. But this wasn’t without our share of supporters who encouraged us through out – “Go Guruji go”, “All the best guys, we are proud of you”, “I think you can do it”…and some more sweet words. If there was cynicism there was encouragement too.
The year saw all of us get on a roller coaster of emotions, filled with flavor of triumph – “yes, we will do it..” as well as some occasional bouts of doubts – “will this actually work?”.
We know we haven’t reached the destination yet but the journey certainly has been fun.
The year saw us launch web, city, Indian language and movie search. We are working towards making these products much better, and launch many more.
The year also saw us, constantly experimenting with “search”, re-discovering what it takes to create a world class search engine (we are getting there :).. ), understanding our users, and more importantly, having fun doing all this.
The year also saw our user base grow, and we cannot thank you enough for that. Thanks for your patronage. Your support helps us get better everyday.
The year to come will be much more exciting. We can already feel the excitement, as we think of things that we would write this day next year.
We know it’s not an easy task that we have set for ourselves but then is easy fun? :)
