The year 2006 saw the Indian cricket team winning its first ever Test match on the South African soil, the city of Bangalore got a new name – Bengalooru. Abhishek and Aishwarya got linked up, the Indian Parliament discussed Cricket, Man landed on the planet Mars (Alright, this one is a joke :-)) …… and amidst all this we managed to launch ourselves too - Guruji.com, the Indian Search Engine was launched on the 12th of October 2006.
We can hardly stop thanking you for all the support displayed, and we promise to deliver on all your expectations in the time to come.
The year 2007 will see us release a lot of new and relevant features for you. You will see our search engine getting better with larger coverage of content and cities, with better usability, with better understanding of what you might be wanting to search, and of course, with sharper and more precise results. We can hardly resist the temptation of revealing to you what’s in store; but we will with hold, and let you discover for yourself. Please keep coming back.
The Guruji team wishes all of you a GREAT 2007. May the new year make all your wishes come true, and give you everything that you always wanted. May the Indian Cricket team win the World Cup. May all the wannabe weight losers shed their extras. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and May we live in a world at Peace.
You take good care of yourself and keep smiling. :-)
Team Guruji.
Anurag,
Good luck with Guruji. A quick suggestion. I find the interface too "drab" if you dont mind the word. Simply said its too dry. I use firefox 2.x and visually the results are not as appealing as they should be. Maybe a good graphics designer?

A few suggestions:
[1] WIDGETIZE your search engine to gain traction. Allow people to put in their blogs!
[2] Put an API together so developers can start integrating your search results.
You've got something good here but it's gotta be marketed right so people break the habit of typing "google.com" in their web browsers!

Hi,
Your search engine is not good.Your search is supposed to be best search engine for India things.
I tried out a search on "Hindi hit songs collection mp3" at your search counter.I expected I will get links to personal websites or some collection websites wherein I can go click and listen to a collection of hindi songs.
But you search engine results are not good at all, instead it gives search results (http://www.guruji.com/search?q=Hindi+hit+song+collection+mp3&hl=en) which are related although but not precisely what I require. Which is a collection or selection of good hindi hit songs in a mp3 format which can be dowloaded from that website, but that your search engine results offer is collection search results which are useless and not precise.
Please improve your search engine, for building a India search engine you dont just need good programmers who can do C++ programming or any other programming. All you need is first collect and gather as how a nation of 1billion people thinks or Indian thinks, do much much research on this subject also parallely while building your search engine. So that you prioritize your search results.
All the best, build the best ever India search engine.
regards
Arvind
